The Bee House

Spring may have finally sprung!
The weather was gorgeous here in MI today.
It's been raining so much that I haven't been able to take any outfit pictures.
So I decided to take full advantage of the beautiful day and snap a couple.
The building in the background is an old school right near our house.
It's now abandoned save for a few thousand bees (and maybe some bums).
Anyway, it was a neat new place to take pictures.
I was so happy that the weather cooperated on my day off.
The mister and I went shoe shopping for him and ate some delicious Mediterranean food for dinner.
Now I'm off to bed as I have to work in the a.m.
This is unfortunate because there are so many estate/garage sales going on this weekend.
Fail.
Happy weekending all!

P.S. Yes, my legs are that pale. I'm not wearing tights.

Weekend Recap

Not too much to report over here.
The mister and I made a quick trip home this weekend for the holiday.
Church was attended, easter candy eaten and many hours in the car logged.
I brought back a carload of my things that had started accumulating at my parent's house.
My mom, dad and aunt frequent the local auctions and often pick me up neat stuff they think I'd like.
Needless to say, everything wouldn't fit in the car this trip.
I'll post pictures of the finds soon.
We had some amazing weather on Saturday- perfect for bike riding.
I decided to take advantage of my dad's vintage Schwinn and ride all over town.
I can't wait to get my bike up and running once Spring finally decides to make it's appearance here in Michigan.
Hope everyone had a happy holiday.
I'll be back later this week with an outfit post.

Thrift Finds

canvas purse $1.99 deer planter $1.99
1960's dictionary $1 floral swim cap! $4
MJ, Joni Mitchell & Joan Baez albums $.79 each dish towel rack $4
jewelry box $.10 sparkle glitter shoes! $10

It's been a little while since I've done a thrift finds post, and since the last one, I've accumulated quite a few goodies.
Above are a few of my most recent and exciting (to me at least) finds.
I've been trying to be slightly more selective when thrifting as of late, picking and purchasing only things I can't live without.
Well not exactly things I can't live without so much as things I really really really want as opposed to just really want.
You see how this works?
:)

FYI: The glitter shoes came from Plato's Closet, so I consider them semi-thrifted.

Rainy Day Bouquet

Good Morning!
I'm pretty sure I've never blogged during the a.m. hours before.
My brain doesn't tend to function this early in the day; however, this is my weekend to work, so I am up.
This week's work schedule combined with the gloomy weather we've been having lately hasn't made outfit posting very possible.
So yesterday on my lunch break I was determined to get a few pictures.
The above are a result of limited time and space.
Hopefully this week will lend itself better to picture taking.
Ok, well I'm off to get ready for work.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Gold Diggers

Well I'm back in Michigan once again after spending a short time at home with my family.
I was without internet and a computer for five days, so I've been super anxious to blog since I've been back.
I was all ready to take outfit pictures today when, of course, the camera died after four shots.
Ugh. Frustrating.
So instead you get to drool over this picture of delicious Sprinkles cupcakes I picked up yesterday in Chicago.
I managed to get in a little shopping time besides Sprinkles while in Chicago including a trip to H&M.
I could spend hours in that store, but only had a short time, so I picked up a pair of sunglasses for myself and a pair for the mister.
And also got him a pair of sweet checked swim trunks (looking forward to some beach time!) and a belt.
See how giving I am?! Shopping for him rather than me! :) Hah.
Anyway, my sunglasses are awesome. Can't wait to post some pictures.
I'm still pretty worn out from my long day of travel yesterday, so I think it's time to rest.
Be back tomorrow with an outfit post!
Night all.

P.S. I'm watching the movie Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain right now. That's where the post title came from in case you were wondering. Does anyone else remember this movie? It's awesome. Watch it.

Even Cowgirls Get the Blues

I scored these sweet cowboy boots today for four bucks at the thrift store!
They are way more legit than my other pair (found here and here).
At least I think so.
I mean they are not only made for walking, but also for dancing and ass-kicking.
:)
I'll keep this post short as I'm about to head down to the ol' Whiskey Barrel for some boot scootin' boogie.
Hah! Not really...
Although it might be fun, I'll save that experience for another day.

Let's see, what else is new?
I discovered a new band today that I'm in love with.
The Black Keys!
I'm pretty sure everyone except me has heard them or of them.
I guess I'm a little behind. As usual.
Also a friend of mine introduced me to the band Fleet Foxes today which was amazing.
I love getting new music!
Recommendations are always welcome and much appreciated.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was spent reading good books, drinking cheap wine, thrifting, eating junk and listening to records.
All my favorite activities.
I'm starting to get a little stir crazy waiting for the weather to warm up though.
I want to be outside, wear dresses, ride my bike and adventure lots.
Don't we all...
Soon enough.

So the mister picked up a new (to us) record player at Goodwill yesterday, and it works! Woot!
We already had one, but for $7.99, why not?
It's a little fancier than the old one, and by fancy, I mean it has a lid and a working arm.
We're movin' on up. Hah.

Alright, I'm off to start a new book.
Goodnight!

April Fail

Why I decided to post these outfit pictures I do not know...
Let's just say it's fitting that today is April Fool's day.
My plan this morning was to run lots of errands, do some spring cleaning and workout.
This was all to be accomplished before I picked the mister up from work at 5.
Well this did not happen because I truly am predictable.
Anyway, what I am getting at is this outfit originated as a workout ensemble...
then turned into an '80s-esque fashion disaster.
Upside! I was super comfortable all day.
I really don't know what it was about the '80s, but they seemed to be all about comfort.
Leggings, oversized sweaters, ugly patterns and bold colors...
Okay!
That must have been what I was subconsciously thinking today.
Also must have been what I was thinking the day I bought this sweater for 50 cents.
:)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I've got grand plans of getting up early tomorrow morning to attend an estate sale...we shall see.
