Fantasy Fancy

I have NEVER considered myself a fantasy person (whatever that means).
I have never even picked up a fantasy novel.
So when HBO began airing Game of Thrones, and there was all this hype surrounding it,
I thought there was no way I'd be into it.
But, guess what, I am!
It took a whole one episode to get me hooked, and I went out and bought the first book the next day.
I must admit it's a little easier to follow the show than it is the book for me.
I think it must just have to do with the fact that I've never read a fantasy novel before, but the book is slow-going.
That is not to say I'm not enjoying it though.
So, alas I have jumped on the bandwagon, and I highly suggest you do the same.
At least when it comes to this novel turned hit show.

Outfit: skirt, shoes, tank, jewelry- all thrifted; sunglasses- H&M

P.S. I really enjoyed combining my outfit post with my current read. I see more of this in my future :)

Thrift Finds

As you can see I have been one busy thrifter these past fews weeks.
Is it a surprise to anyone after seeing these pictures that I am well on my way to becoming a hoarder?!
I have got to open up shop soon and send some of these treasures on their way to new homes.

Let the Good Times Roll

I mentioned in my last post that I'd been busy with visitors this past week.
Well, my good friend, Georgia, came to stay with me for a few days, and it was a blast!
I got to show her all my favorite thrift stores, and we even discovered a few new gems right down the street from my house!
We ate good food, drank cheap wine, listened to records, shopped til we dropped...ya know, the usual.
It was so refreshing to have a little girl time. We may have acted like little girls too :)
Our shenanigans also consisted of chalkin' it up, temporary tattoos, bedtime stories and colorful hair extensions.
Needless to say, many fantastic memories were made, and a book may be in the works.

My dad also came to visit for the week.
He's still recovering from his motorcycle accident/recent surgery, but he's doing much better.
Not surprisingly he was up for a change of scenery after being cooped up at home for the past several weeks.
So he came to stay with me for which I am very grateful.
It's been a little lonely around here lately, and it felt good to have a few visitors from back home.

This week everyone has gone home, and I hardly work.
I plan on reading as many books as possible in one week and blogging, of course.
Recent thrift finds post coming soon...

Friday Finds

Sorry for my lack of posting as of late, but I promise to make up for it over the next week.
The mister has been out of town at a conference, and I've been busy with visitors, work, thrifting and the like.
I cannot wait to post all my recent finds, but for now here's a little sneak peek.
Be back soon.

Dandelion Patch

More gorgeous weather!
I know that's all I talk about on here lately, but I just cannot get over how beautiful it's been.
This picture perfect park (ohh alliteration) is right down the road from our house.
As you can see, the ground is covered in dandelions right now.
<3
I was so excited I couldn't help but roll around in them a little.

As for my outfit...
It's pretty much my favorite.
I thrifted this vintage Gunne Sax skirt a couple months ago, and I am in love.
Perfect length, pattern, fit, flow...you see what I mean by love.
The platform shoes I'm wearing are the most comfortable and cute vintage pair I've ever owned.
I paid $25 bucks for these babies at a vintage clothing store.
May not seem like a lot, but definitely the most expensive pair of vintage shoes I've ever bought.
Nothing especially exciting about the tank top. It's from H&M.
Comfy and versatile- I've been wearing it a lot.
I also have on a single silver chain necklace with a feather pendant on it.
I'll get a better picture later.

The fact that I just rambled on for hours about my outfit means two things.
1. It really is my new favorite.
2. I will now shut up.

The mister just commented on the length of this post saying "You're still typing?!"
So I'm out.
:)

Weekend Recap

As I type this post I am completely exhausted.
I am sure this is the first productive weekend I've had in a long time.
Spring has arrived, and so has the time for spring cleaning.
The mister and I spent all day cleaning and organizing the house.
We aren't done, but we are taking a break for the evening.
We are ridiculously messy people. It's terrible.

Anywhooo, yesterday was beautiful. Like crazy beautiful.
And as hiking is one of my favorite pastimes, that is just what the mister and I did.
It was sort of a last minute idea, so we didn't venture too far from home.
We did, however, find an acceptable park with above par trails.
The three mile hike was a much needed respite from life's daily grind.
We had fun critter-spotting. Lots of chipmunks, squirrels and birds.
If you click on the last picture (bottom right corner) you can see Mr. Hiss, the snake.
I know it's kind of like a game of Where's Waldo with my telephoto limit, but see if you can find him :)
Yes, I need a new lens.
One with better zooming capabilities?
Hah, I know little to nothing about cameras, but pretend I do.

Okay, I'm off to relax the rest of the evening.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
And Happy Mother's Day!!

Casual Friday

The weather was absolutely beautiful today!
I could not have been more happy to see sunshine and feel warmth.
Is it finally spring? I think so, and it's about darn time.
The mister and I had an early dinner downtown then wandered around for a bit to take pictures.
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy it's the weekend.
I foresee garage sales and hiking in my near future.
What are your plans for the weekend?

P.S. Don't forget Mother's Day on Sunday :)
