mister took this picture of me yesterday when i had just woken up from a nap...

so, i got busy last night and got tons of packing done!  the movers are coming today so i wanted to clean up a little and get the majority of the packing taken care of.  a and i are going to visit my brother this weekend.  he just moved in to a new place today.  i've been reading all these blogs lately, and i'm anxious to get busy crafting and such, but all my stuff is packed!  oh well, i guess it can wait a week.  last night i had a serious case of insomnia.  i have only ever experienced this one other time in my life, and it was when i had started taking a new medication.  ugh.  it was so frustrating.  i finally got to sleep around 3:30 and then got up to take the mister to work at 8:30.  that may seem like enough sleep to some, but for me it's really not.  i usually sleep at least 9 hours a night, and that's not including daily naps.  hard life, huh?  :)  well, my world will be changing soon enough, and i'm pretty excited.  i think michigan will be an exciting new adventure for me and the mister.  i really hope he loves his job.  college towns are pretty exciting places, so i'm thrilled we'll be living in one again.  ok, well until later....

gloomy day...

well, once again i should be packing, but i'm not. i've been procrastinating all morning! i slept in late, ate a couple bowls of cereal, tried to watch the brady bunch (but something is wrong with the tv!) and now i'm sitting and watching the storm come while updating my blog. i think i may start a new book today also. i've only read three books this whole summer, and that is not sufficient. since i'm not working this summer, the plan was to read a whole lot and craft/thrift a whole lot. well, i thrifted for sure, but i didn't so much create and read. i think once we move to our bigger place in michigan i'll be more apt to do more. hmm we'll see. so the mister and i are on a soup kick. we've been eating lotsa soup and i've been collecting lotsa recipes for this fall and winter. i've decided i'm not really a cold soup person, so i think i'm going to dedicate my soup-eating to this fall and the colder months. i've been eating soup in 90+ degree weather, and it's not so great. a, on the other hand, thinks he likes cold soup, so he's on his own. :) i'm so excited for our move, i can hardly wait til next weekend! i love love love the house we are moving in to. the fact that it has a fireplace is soo amazing. i can't wait to snuggle with my babies and the mister in front of it. ok, well i guess i better get to it.

my new pan!

So, instead of packing (which is what I should be doing) I am going to update by blog. :) We are moving to Michigan in less than two weeks, and I have done nothing to get ready. Movers are coming on Friday to look around and give us a quote on how much it will cost. It sounds like our budget is going to be maxed out if we hire this company. Oh well, I think it will be so worth it to hire people to move us rather than us (and my parents) doing it ourselves yet again. I can't believe we just moved less than two months ago! Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly, I've acquiring lotsa stuff in these two months, so now I need to weed some other things out. I'm getting excited about decorating our new place once we get settled...I see a new couch, some new rugs..hmm and lots more in our near future! :) So I bought this cute new vintage lidded pan at the thrift store yesterday, and guess what? I just saw the same pan on Bewitched!! I love it! Hmm I should take a picture of it to post. I've also recently been watching The Bob Newhart Show. I remember watching TV Land when I was younger and I love being able to check the shows out from the library now. Ok, well really I should get to work, however, I will probably stop by the Goodwill sometime today.

card i made for my bff's wedding...

It's been a while since I've written and a lot has happened! It looks as though we will be moving to Michigan soon! A got a job at Michigan State, so we are going up for a visit this weekend to look at places. And by places, I mean houses. No more apartments, duplexes or townhomes...I want a house. Buying a house would be ideal, but seeing as how we have no money saved, renting is our only option for now. That's ok. :) My man got a job! I'm so proud of him. It's kind of scary to think we will actually be semi-stable for at least 3 years. I didn't think it would happen this soon. On another note, my cousin J has been visiting this week. We've been having some fun shopping and eating out and watching lotsa movies. Mary Tyler Moore is our current favorite show to watch. I think we are gonna go see a movie tonight, and then he is leaving tomorrow. I haven't really had much thrifting time this past week, so I'm hoping to get some time in this weekend in Michigan. New places!! So exciting! Ok well that's it for now.

my ever-growing vintage pyrex collection...

Well, my collection of vintage pyrex is growing day by day. I found a few new pieces at the big flea market on Sunday as well as some more vinyl. I've been looking and looking for some old quilts, but I haven't been very successful thus far. All the ones I've seen are either way to expensive or aren't in good enough shape to buy. Also, the other day I found a new antique store that had some amazing finds at really decent prices; I didn't get a chance to spend as much time as I would have liked, so I plan on going back sometime this week, but I did find A an old anchor tie tack. We had a good weekend with the in-laws, lots of shopping and eating like I expected. We got to try out a few new restaurants, and we shopped for interview attire for A. He is starting to get stressed about his pending interview, and I've been trying to keep him calm. It's not working. :) So once we are back from Michigan, my cousin J is coming to stay with us for a couple weeks and then his sister Kels is coming. I've been trying to think up lots of fun things to do while they are here as I'm not used to entertaining lively young ones for such an extended period of time. Luckily, there are some local festivals going on around the time they are here visiting, so that will give us something to do. Laying by the pool won't be such a bad idea either. Well, everyone is sleeping, so I better head to bed myself. Night.

homemade birthday cards...

Well, I've been drinking a little wine and making cards tonight with the mother-in-law (maybe more than a little wine), and we just got back from a late night walk. Now we are having a late night snack comprised of spinach and artichoke hummus, cracked pepper crackers, goat cheese and summer sausage (for the boys). YUm Yum. Miss Maggie is begging for some sausage, but instead she got a tasty little peanut butter doggie treat. The boys are hogging the TV playing Xbox, while us gals are waiting to gain control of the situation and watch Taxi Driver. I scored some good finds today at Trader Buck's, and A is thinking of renting a booth to sell some of our stuff. He has a lot of music equipment he is trying to sell online right now, but no one seems to be interested. Tomorrow there is a huge flea market at the fairgrounds that I plan on attending. It's only held the first Sunday of the month, and since we are only here for the summer months, I figure I better check it out. Now, I'm not exactly an early bird, so we will see how this goes, but I am going to try my best to be up at 7 so I can get there early and get some good stuff. My ma and pa are getting a new little sweet puppy in a month or so and I can't wait to meet the little booger. Miss Maggie is going to be so happy to have a new playmate (although she will be quite jealous for a while). So, the Tom Petty concert is in 20 days! I can't wait; Ash is going to have such an awesome bachelorette party! Milwaukee here we come! Ugh, my phone is such a pile; it died again today while I was in the middle of a call. Seriously, it makes me question why I ever even got a fancy schmancy cell phone. Why didn't we all just stick with land lines? Ok, well I suppose it's movie time now...so more tomorrow! linz
