card i made for my bff's wedding...

It's been a while since I've written and a lot has happened! It looks as though we will be moving to Michigan soon! A got a job at Michigan State, so we are going up for a visit this weekend to look at places. And by places, I mean houses. No more apartments, duplexes or townhomes...I want a house. Buying a house would be ideal, but seeing as how we have no money saved, renting is our only option for now. That's ok. :) My man got a job! I'm so proud of him. It's kind of scary to think we will actually be semi-stable for at least 3 years. I didn't think it would happen this soon. On another note, my cousin J has been visiting this week. We've been having some fun shopping and eating out and watching lotsa movies. Mary Tyler Moore is our current favorite show to watch. I think we are gonna go see a movie tonight, and then he is leaving tomorrow. I haven't really had much thrifting time this past week, so I'm hoping to get some time in this weekend in Michigan. New places!! So exciting! Ok well that's it for now.

my ever-growing vintage pyrex collection...

Well, my collection of vintage pyrex is growing day by day. I found a few new pieces at the big flea market on Sunday as well as some more vinyl. I've been looking and looking for some old quilts, but I haven't been very successful thus far. All the ones I've seen are either way to expensive or aren't in good enough shape to buy. Also, the other day I found a new antique store that had some amazing finds at really decent prices; I didn't get a chance to spend as much time as I would have liked, so I plan on going back sometime this week, but I did find A an old anchor tie tack. We had a good weekend with the in-laws, lots of shopping and eating like I expected. We got to try out a few new restaurants, and we shopped for interview attire for A. He is starting to get stressed about his pending interview, and I've been trying to keep him calm. It's not working. :) So once we are back from Michigan, my cousin J is coming to stay with us for a couple weeks and then his sister Kels is coming. I've been trying to think up lots of fun things to do while they are here as I'm not used to entertaining lively young ones for such an extended period of time. Luckily, there are some local festivals going on around the time they are here visiting, so that will give us something to do. Laying by the pool won't be such a bad idea either. Well, everyone is sleeping, so I better head to bed myself. Night.

homemade birthday cards...

Well, I've been drinking a little wine and making cards tonight with the mother-in-law (maybe more than a little wine), and we just got back from a late night walk. Now we are having a late night snack comprised of spinach and artichoke hummus, cracked pepper crackers, goat cheese and summer sausage (for the boys). YUm Yum. Miss Maggie is begging for some sausage, but instead she got a tasty little peanut butter doggie treat. The boys are hogging the TV playing Xbox, while us gals are waiting to gain control of the situation and watch Taxi Driver. I scored some good finds today at Trader Buck's, and A is thinking of renting a booth to sell some of our stuff. He has a lot of music equipment he is trying to sell online right now, but no one seems to be interested. Tomorrow there is a huge flea market at the fairgrounds that I plan on attending. It's only held the first Sunday of the month, and since we are only here for the summer months, I figure I better check it out. Now, I'm not exactly an early bird, so we will see how this goes, but I am going to try my best to be up at 7 so I can get there early and get some good stuff. My ma and pa are getting a new little sweet puppy in a month or so and I can't wait to meet the little booger. Miss Maggie is going to be so happy to have a new playmate (although she will be quite jealous for a while). So, the Tom Petty concert is in 20 days! I can't wait; Ash is going to have such an awesome bachelorette party! Milwaukee here we come! Ugh, my phone is such a pile; it died again today while I was in the middle of a call. Seriously, it makes me question why I ever even got a fancy schmancy cell phone. Why didn't we all just stick with land lines? Ok, well I suppose it's movie time now...so more tomorrow! linz

the most beautious cake i have ever made!

So, my post tonight will be short because it's late, and I've had a busy day cleaning and entertaining. My in-laws are in town for a few days, so we went out to dinner at the brewing company (the husband's choice, of course, as I am not a beer drinker), then the guys watched the Stanley Cup playoffs while us girls went to the movies. We saw Date Night which was pretty funny. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I thought overall it was entertaining. Tonight we played a little dice, and now everyone is in bed pas moi. Really the reason I wanted to write was so I could post the picture of my beautious cake I made today (which, by the way, ended up actually being delicious). This is a surprise to myself as well as to those who know me considering I am not exactly a domestic goddess, far from it actually. I'm working on it though. Ok, Miss Maggie is ready for me to come the bed, so goodnight for now.

(This looks like the antique store kitty I met today)

Things I'm loving at the moment: I Love Lucy, Serena sweet red wine, beautious Goodwill dresses and Morningstar Farms sausage patties. Things kitty is loving: the blinds and catnip. A and I bought Mr. Moose a fun little catnip toy from the farmer's market last week, and he goes crazyyy for it. I would take a cute picture, but both of our cameras are dead. Boo. So my in-laws are coming for a visit tomorrow which means a weekend full of eating out and shopping. Sounds good to me! I went and visited a new antique shop today, and I was cheerfully greeted by a pretty little kitty cat. She was a very talkative girl, and she followed me around the store while I browsed. She must have known I love kitties. Shopping and animals, my two favorite things, when put together make for a fun time. I also went to Goodwill again today. I try to make it there a couple times a week to see whats new. :) I found 3 cute vintage dresses, and I also got Maggie a new water bowl. My mama would be proud, last night I stayed up late making cards and scrapping. I'll post pictures soon. MSU visit is a little less than a week away! A is getting ready. I'm planning on a long day of thrifting while we're there.

(Mr. Moose love books)

I am really in need of something to do other than shop this summer, so I guess I will try to get this blog up and running. We'll see how it goes. Generally, I start something and very soon after I stop. However, I am kind of excited to have a place where I can post about my exciting summer thrifting adventures. So far, I have found some awesome flea markets and antique stores around town, and I've acquired a few neat things. Well, maybe more than a few. :) I've quickly gotten the hang of this town, and I'm excelling at finding my way to all the good bargains. I'm not sure the husband would agree with that statement, but I'm pretty sure everything I purchase is amazing. Ok, well laundry must be done and trash taken out, so I'll post more later.
